Hi everyone, just wondering how to convert my 4 on the column to 4 on the floor, i know i need to get hold of a gemini gearstick but what about issues of how and where to specifically cut the hole to accomodate the gearshift...has anyone got pics of this transformation and apart from the gearshift what else would I need? Plus does it matter if the gearstick comes out of a petrol 4 or 5 speed gearbox (my car is 4 speed manual and diesel)?

cheers
shaggs

You can use the stick out of either a 4 or 5 speed Gemini(I Mark) these are plentiful at most wreckers, you will need the stick and the box the stick bolts into. Disconect the shift linkages on the steer column and on the gear box, unbolt the shift lever assembly on your box and bolt up the Gemini box (minus stick). From inside the truck drill a small hole in the position the stick will come thru, use a pair of tin snips to slowly make the hole larger till you have 1/2 inch clearence around the stick in all gears.

Im sure the template for what the hole needs to look like is stamped into the floor pressing from the factory.

The Gemini and the Rodeo sticks are different bends.
If you pt a Rodeo stick in a Gemini you will bang your knuckles on the dash. Went something like that anyway.
Theres three or 4 different sticks/quadrant. With the different types you can not swap the stick into a different quadrant. So you need to get the whole lot from one box.

I would cut the floor out first, then take the selector lid off the box. Bolt the quadrant on then drop the stick in.
Remove the bench and pull up all your carpet.

While your at it, drop the oil. Put your oil back in thru the hole in the top of the box before you bolt the stick in place.

While your doin all this why not just put a Gemini 5 speed in it??????

You will need one with a Coarse spline output. If you get a fine spline one you will need a drive shaft out of late 4x2 G200 Rodeo to pinch the yolk from. Gemini one could work you would have to check the part numbers for the Universal joints and see if they are the same.
