I have been passing a 1965 Impala SS sitting by someones shop waiting for them to rebuild it. The color is called "Evening Orchid" by Chevy and Pontiac called it "Iris Mist". Both paint code "P". A buddy had a SS 396 Impala in this color which I thought was just ok at the time. This is a 1965 only color and only Chevy and Pontiac had it.(Ok, there may have been a reason for that.)

The more I go by that car the more I like it. Most pictures don't show how it really looks. I guess it would be a iridescent pearl color. Here is a picture of a GTO that seems to show it best. I am think of painting the ol' Luv that color after I fix a dent or two... The burnt orange-red has gotten old to me...

What do you think.

I know some will just hate it :P

Nice color but I think all the little trucks look better in a solid color and not metallic. IMO

I found out this from a Hotrodders.com where I go every now and then

"Nason has a formula in base/clear. It was the only one I have found. My freind has a 65 Lemans/gto convert that is that color and we are getting ready to repaint it. The match is quite good. I can get the nason number for you tonight when I get home if you want. Tim"

I asked him to get me the number.

Check with a sickens supplier, they should have the paint codes for that year. If not I can maybe check were I used to work. I know they had the old books from the GM models way back to the 50"s.
If nothing else they make a camera that if you can get a supplier or body shop to go to the car you need the color from it can actually extract a code to match as close as you can get. We did that ona lot of repaint touchup panels.
From what I understand Sickens is the best matching paint made as for as color match.

college buddy of mine had a 65 impala the same color. It was horrid. He finally had it painted to a dark blue. He was pleased, even his mother was pleased.

I didn't care for it much way back. It has just caught my "eye"

The nason formula number is 4632 IFB (IFB=base coat)
