Eventually I'm going to have a weber carb with my offy intake . I've heard that the setup will actually give you more power and better gas mileage. Perhaps someone else that already has their weber on their Luv will post.

Mine went down for a while, but then I think I gained about 1MPG after I got over the initial urge to stomp the go-go pedal to the floor.

Go to the home page for this site, click on the information section, and go in there and download the zip file on all carbs made by weber. That will tell you what jets to use for your truck.

BTW...your holley is just a weber clone, so it should be set up the same way.

I'm getting about 18 in my 79' 4X with the weber. That's with 235/75's.

Let's assume for the sake of discussion that the gas mileage is the same. (Which actually in my case - I got better gas mileage with my weber.) The better response and performance is well worth the investment in an offy and a weber. The weber you can get reasonably cheap on ebay if you get a decent used one and rebuild it. The offy you can get from Mokadeth. And why all of his offy intakes aren't all already gone yet just amazes me - because they are a damn good investment and very easy to install, even if you have to pass smog.

Simple stuff like switching to a electronic dizzy/ignition module, bolting on a header, installing a weber/offy intake, adding a higher output coil and a 50 amp alternator makes a huge difference in the way a Luv runs - even if it still has the stock 4 speed tranny.

Anyone serious about keeping their Luv and fixing it up IMHO should have all of that on their "to do" list, and if they are driving a 2WD truck, IMHO they should add converting to a newer 5 speed tranny on their list as well.

Thanks for the mention taz, you have been a huge help with info on the Offy intakes. I am surprised too that most of them aren't sold. Many people who said they would take one in the beginning ended up not wanting it. Some guys sold their truck or changed motors, a couple I never heard back from and a couple wanted one in the near future. I can't wait to get my truck all finished up and have the Offy installed. If I buy a brand new Weber from the factory will it have the proper jets and set up for the stock motor? And what kind of price do they run brand new?

Used ones sell for around $75 (or less) on ebay and new ones sell for around $300. You can add on the custom chrome air cleaner for about $25. Rebuild kits are about $20, so if I were you, I would buy a good used one and just rebuild it. There isn't much to them, so rebuilding them is really not much trouble. And even if it's jetted wrong, the jets are real cheap on ebay too. And all the weber info you need is right here on the site in a self-extracting zip file so everyone can use it for free. All you have to do is just click on this link and download it:

Thanks for the info. I knew there was some info on the site index for the Weber carbs that I glanced at a while back. I wouldn't have a clue on how to rebuild a carb, so it would probably be easiest for me to just get a new one.

One of the great things about weber carbs is that when they designed them, they followed the K.I.S.S. philosophy. (Keep it simple stupid.) They are one of the most dependable and reliable carbs, and are among the easiest carbs to rebuild or adjust, requiring very few tools or skills to get them dialed in properly. I've bought about ten used weber carbs and only had to rebuild 3, and they all ran fine.

Don't let fear hold you back Moka - because for the price of one new one - you could have a shelf full of good reliable used/rebuilt ones.

And if you are gonna run a bigger cam and build up your engine a bit, try a weber38/38. They are a kick ass carb.

Well, this is kind of an old thread, but I'm curious what should I get the dizzy/module, coil and amp off of...

And where to get a good header...

Thanks taz.

any isuzu vehicle with the g200 in it will work, if its older it will have an external ignitor, if its newer its gonna have internal and all you need to do with that is cut the plug off run the blakc/orange wire to the posative side of the coil and the solid black on the the black/red wire that used to run to the side of the stock dizzy, headers look for anythign for the g200 1.9l 4zc1 4zd1 ro 4ze1 2.0l 2.3l or 2.6l if you look for a header for an isuzu pup im pretty sure they are all made for the bigger engines but will work with either way, the coil you can jsut get off the rig you find the dizzy on or go and spend about 50 bones for an accel super coil they is the way ide go, and the alternator i think if you go to the parts store is one made for a luv with factory a/c just ask for one of them...
thats all i got for now

I wouldnt use a header off a 4Z motor. They have round exhaust ports instead of square.

Stick with the G200 ones.

Some G200's had HEI. If not it is fairly easy to convert the points distributor to HEI by fitting the internals out of a Carby FWD I-mark. When getting the setup from the I-mark its easier to leave the distributor wired to the coil and take it as well. Cut the wirring from the coil to the igniton and that will make it way too easy to hook back up correctly.
