Got a problem. I'm putting in new LED type turn signal lights on the front bumper. I can't seam to get them wired properly. I went to change the flasher and the ones they are trying to sell me don't look right. They are a 2 prong with prongs like this _ l , mine in the truck has a 3 prong plug and the flasher is a 3 prong flasher like this l _ l . What make it even more wierd is the plug only has 2 wires coming out and they are these l l .

Does anyone have any insight on what flasher I should get?

cat, do you have the part number for the original flasher and is it suppose to be a 3 prong. I see the one on the Ebay is a 3 prong.

Thanks,

That's OK, I was able to get mine off and it still works with the original lights, somehow the LED lights just won't work. There has to be something different about the wiring, I think I need a ground some where because I can ground the hot wire going into the light and the flasher works but the light don't since it is grounded before going through the light. Without the ground the flasher won't even blink.

There should be a hot wire for the park light, a hot wire for the turn signal, and a third for the ground on the LED, I believe...

Thanks mytmouz, that's right the new light also has 3 wires. The guy at the parts store said the white on the LED is the ground and if I'm correct the black on the pickup is the ground. There's not too many ways to change up the rest. I was able to get the running lights to work on either wire on the LED but the signal won't work on either. I thought I was smarter than a dumb light but now I'm not to sure. :smt017

I did check mine and the flasher has 3 prongs but the luv wire only has to (l l) the _ was no wire in it even thought its the 3 prong plug and flasher... mi light are the led type that go into the original socket a didn’t have to wire them in.... I didn’t like them so i run normal bulbs now but I did keep the led tail lights... dont know if that helps

Yeah, thanks for the help. I guess I am smarter than a dumb light because I had them wired correctly the first time. It was the battery that was smarter than me. Apparently the battery had just enough charge to allow the hazard flashers to work but not the turn signals. I tried to start her up and she wouldn't go so I jumped it. Low and behold the signals started to work. I just hope I haven't caused something to short. Hopefully this one has a happy ending.

All I have left is figuring out how to finish it (chrome, powder coat or paint). Most likely paint because of the economics. I have another string "Fab new bumper" that I will post pics on.

btw, your truck is awsome.

Thanks for the assist.
