just got the bags and brackets tacked in and the bridge. I'm working on the rear disc brake swap now. I'll get some pictures of the rotor and caliper that I used.

I think I'm going to run the front just with the upper control arms I made and the bags. I got over 20hrs in building the custom crossmember and tranny mount now. If I Z'd the frame I'll have to cut another 3-4" out of the firewall on top of the 2" I already cut to get the headers of the ground and have the truck lay out. The other thing is if I Z'd the frame I would not be able to run the stock blower motor .Not to mention cut the complete fenderwells out including the core support to cab supports. I know with the headers and me being 6'3" I need as much room as possible in the cab. Now I have the tranny and driveshaft coming up another 2" into the cab.

Wish I knew how to do all the motorswap and etc work lol.
That is awesome! Is it difficult to steer with those huge wheels?

Thanks for reposting them. The pictures look alot better. The truck seems to steer just the same as it did before. I think it steers the same as it did before with the V8.

Craig

i think its your comp, they look the same to me.

So I havent drawn in like 8 months, and I lost all my gear, from digital pad, to scanner, to comp, and photoshop, etc. but today , after looking at your cars pics, i use to do alot of chip foose-ish renderings, so I said hey, what the heck, and started drawing up again hahahaa.

my dad walked by when i was doing initial sketches on my table, then an hour later I was inking, then painting and markering by hand, then i was air brushing. and he he saw the v8 i drew into the drawing. white, with 5 lugs oddly, ccw classics, huge in the rear, though i doubt they make them that big lol....i was starting to apply flames to the white concept, yellow, orange, red, then blue, drawing and touching up the carbon fiber weave for the dash, bed cover, and hood, since it was a upper side front view.

my dad stood there and was like wow...you haven't drawn in months. a neighbor walked by with his dog. a few minutes later he asked if he could buy my truck, and the drawing. i said no on the truck. and no on the drawing. he said fine, how about just the artwork.

He offered me $300. lol. go figure. lol. large landscape/poster sized. hahaahaa.

woot! spare cashhh to hold onto for the cars desperately needed work heehee.

But damn. your truck was inspiring.

Thats what i was going to say.

pop goes the weasel. 8O

Stock up on Impulse diff centres. They are 3.9 and manuals had LSD. Might work better for your motor/trans combo.

Looks good.
Hows the front end going to work with all that camber on the wheels??? Obviously your going to lift it to drive to so the wheels will turn. Can you give us some pics at ride height.

Seeing as the 4 link arms are so long does it have much side to side movement??? If so you could look at making up a watts link for the rear end. That would keep it tight and straight at any height. Way better than a panhard rod.

Your going to have to strip the diff anyway the disc convert and coz youve welded it. Wouldnt be much to put the watts link brackets on.

Cheers, Bob.

I am using the stock rearend housing and third member. The axles are fullsize mosers cut down and resplined to fit the Luv rearend. The third member was gone through about 300 miles ago. The truck never hooked up with the v8 in it before so I don't think its going to now with the Spray! I never had a problem with this rearend after the moser axles went into it. The only problem we ever had was breaking the passenger side axle. Besides this truck is not going to the strip, It will probably spend it's second life at the shows and just crusin around. The 4-link I used it for heavy duty applications and high horsepower the bars are longer and big to keep the geometry as close as possible during the suspension travel. I've had b/d and bagged trucks/ cars before and the problem usually comes up that the small mini truck kits are just to small and caused suspension geometry changes when the suspension was cycled. not to mention evry weak bars and mounts.

Rodeo, the truck has no side to side movement and the truck still has the stock height alignment as it sits. when the truck is raised it will ride at stock height in the front.

No drama, suppose it depends on what bushes, bigger ones would give more slop.

I dont really get the ride height thing. I had a guy come to my house once in a hilux, he had to do a thirty point turn, his compressor was blown and he couldnt lift the front end up high enough.

Each to their own. If it wont cart a ton or tow two ton its of no use to me. lol.
But i do appreciate the work that goes into setting it up. So i will like these pics better than the ones of it finished.

Rodeo, I have not moved any of the shims from the truck when it was aligned by the shop when stock height. That means when the truck is "layed out" (on the ground) the alignment will be off, But when it is raised at stock height in the front it will be aligned correctly and all the geometry will be as if it was stock. Hope this helps.

So are you sayin, if you pump up the bags and load it right up (thats if theres any room left in the back after lifting the floor and tubs) it will still do the work of a real truck????? If you take of the 20" rims and put some real tyres on it.

Just stiring.

I want to do a dually conversion on my 86. Ive been toying with using a Z beam style twin airbag setup on the rear or even a 4 bag setup. More for empty ride comfort than anything. Well that and if its overloaded you just put more air in the tyres and the bags and no one knows.
So your build pics are of great interest. Ive a few mates who rekon i should go bags all round but im not too sure. Too much work and will they hack it. What would it drive like. I suppose its all in the shockers.
