Anyone have pics of when they removed their dash cover? What it looks like without it? Anyone know where I can get the rubber around the front windshield? The truck I ended up getting has a cracked windshield and am aiming to replace it, but would like new rubber around it too, since its kind of falling appart. Rear window as well? Just want to replace the rubber. Anyone truck linered their interior floor? Saw this done on an RX7 running an LS1 on myspace, and wondered if anyone has done it here.

Anyways, thanks for reading guys :)

On the dash ?. Do you want a picture of the metal frame under the padding? If so I can take a picture. I cut mine out last year and put in an aluminum dash. Let me know.

As for the rubbers, most auto glass shops have the front rubber, as for the back well good luck! The only one aftermarket I have seen is in Australia, I had to search and search the boneyards till I found a decent used one.

I need to replace my dash also. I have seen replacement dash pads on the internet for around $80. Is this right? Also, how does the old come off/new go on? Is it glued or bolted?

Sorry for my silence, been really busy, I may get to put the luv on standby, a friend of mine needs to move back to his country to look after his familys business due to family emergency. He gave me his Tacoma :D can't believe my luck! I am so relieved. I wanted to focus on fixing the luv without wearing it out as a daily.

But thanks for informing me of that! I will get new rubber and glass :ebiggrin its been raining here in so cal, so the luv been hiding under his blanket from the rain lol. I took off the grill and light trim, ganna rechrome paint, then mask off and black out the inside of the light areas, same for the grill, I am stuck between if I want the truck to stay mellow yellow, or if I want to repaint all white.
I am really loving this:

Liked Ctmandu's wheels on his nice stepside, but I really am taken to the saucer look :egeek I feel nerdy lol.

Could you take some pictures? The bare metal frame under the padding? And also what you did as an alternative?

$80 for a dash CAP. This covers the top of the dash, and is not a complete replacement.

You would need to trim off the split open top in some areas to fit a new cap. I just pulled the entire foam dash on a '78. It had a cap installed at some point and came out in one piece. I don't think I'll be able to re-cap it, but I don't know how this one was fastened on. The area around the radio and the edges near the doors is where the lower portion seems to get chewed up. If you can find a decent 3/4 lower section, the cap will work.

Otherwise, it's a $600 check to Australia....maybe. Good luck.

what do we know of making a dash out of fiberglass. like filling in the cracks with (Great-Stuff ) expanding foam and laying fiberglass on top.

I was actually thinking new plastic top, I can work with plastic :) I also do jewelry stuff, I made a mold and pored for my friends custom emblems on his 72 monte carlo, he did a 68 chevelle front end, and wanted a unique emblem so in place of his bow tie, I did an air force logo and finished with metallic blue to off set his black paint.

I was thinking I may make some other stuff little wise for the luv. dunno yet.

Don't use great stuff! Use sculpting foam. The foam is very easy to deal with and simple to make changes to. Look at bagged79 profile I know he has used some foam on his interior and I don't have any pictures of my old truck interior.

i just figured that the foam would expand into cracks then you could shave the foam into the desired shape then apply your glass. i'm just not sure if it is resistant to the resin, as in the resin would melt the foam???? :?:

No problem. I hope they helped. I bought a Hobart gas wire welder. I like it and does what I need it to.

How much are those?
I was looking at Lincolns gas-less wirefed welder actually. But the guy at sears said the Harbor Freight welder does the same job, just dandy and is cheaper. gaaah!:x So lost hahaha.

So I out just now getting stuff done, and walked across the street to this shop in anaheim. And asked how much would it cost for them to swap a 350 into my luv, and they quoted me $5,500 8O  :x Good god... lol. I was doing some serious calulator work just now and my brother laughed and said why not get an older mustang, or a nova, or etc, that would be more worth while to swap in

But I'd really like to see what my options are with the truck :econfused . Its off beat, unique, and Luvs where in that one magic movie, Practical Magic. Damn Sandras hot in that movie...

But anyways. Yah. Balancing alot out in my head.
Theres a guy in this forum who has a white luv, wide wide rear meats and wheels, I think he posted somewhere on here that he builds race cars. Can't remember. But his truck is really nice too.

Just want something clean and daily driveable. Damn...
Need to think somemore.

I know I posted another topic on this, but I am seriously looking for a place to do the swap :( swapping a motor in my sisters civic before was $500 hahahaa. Wish it was that simple!!!!

Anyways in so cal its a pretty nice day thus far!

Man that is pretty pricey!!! The Horbart welder was 659.95 plus tax. If you do a lot of welding you would probably be better off getting a gas welder. Does a better job welding and has a lot less splatter. Before I got my welder I borrowed a friends Hobart and used it without gas. Didn't do a very good job. Maybe someone who was a good welder (not me!!!) could have done a better job. Too bad you weren't closer, I think that would be fun to do a swap. Would be a good winter project here in Iowa. Looks like there are a lot of Luv owners in Cali., maybe one of them might know of somebody down there that might be interested in doing the swap???? Good luck.
