Hey guys, by a miracle I found a 84 impulse and got the entire fuel injection system out of it including the harness, ecm, all sensors, air filter assy. The plan is to install this on my 78 LUV, has anyone done this and is there and issues or recommendations I need to address before I get started? Tips?

I think it's a great idea. It's an excellent factory system that will give you better mileage and possibly better performance. Would like to see how it goes together. Just disconnect the battery and hook everything up. If it doesn't work, put a scanner on it. If you don't know the history of the vehicle, you might want to have the computer checked before you get started.

No real issues if your good with wiring.

Just need to make sure youve got all the bits and they are all the right bits.

You will definately need a wirirng diagram or two.

Be sure youve got relays and fuses all where they should be.

And change all your rubber fuel lines to EFI grade. And check over your steel lines to make sure the extra pressure wont be a drama.

How did it work out? The only thing I might be concerned about is the CPS (Crankshaft position sensor), if it is a unit that is molded, or part of the crankshaft.

Being an 84 it should be a G200Z. The gear is all built into the distrubutor and it will drop into any SOHC G-series motor.

I dont know how the mixtures etc would go if you put it on a G180Z. It would run probably but it wouldnt be at its best.
