Even though I release the parking brake, the light in the dash won't turn off. Any suggestions on where to start tracking down this problem?

make sure the little lever that is on the park brake by the switch didn’t break, its down by the gas pedal..
this happens allot and if it broke it wont push the switch off

I had this happen on the '79 4x4 I had. I just put a piece of electrical tape over the plunger to keep it down. It's sort of hard to miss the parking brake sticking out if you've got it pulled...

As for fixing it properly if it's broken, I think you'd need to have the tab welded back on, or just replace the whole pull mechanism.

My tab is simply missing. So the switch is unpluged to keep the light off.

Does anyone have a picture of what the tab looks like so I can fab one up.
