This is kinda dumb simple question but I need to know how to hook in my volt meter in my dash, It is all I have left to hook up. I just run a leads to the + and - sides from the voltmeter to the + and - sides of the battery right. Just like using a hand held voltmeter.

Yes, except you probably want to hook it to a circuit that only gets power with the key on so the voltmeter goes on with the key.

The instructions on my voltmeter said to hook it up this way. Ground the - side of the gauge to where you have mounted the gauge. Hook the + side up to a hot post in the fuse box. Very simple.

Hmmmm, I hooked it up and went + to + and - to -. it read backwards. I hooked the - to a hot when my switch was on and the + side to ground and it showed what my test meter did right off the battery.
