hello my name is Elijah and I live in Columbus, Ohio, I just thought I would drop in and say hello...

I have a 1981 Chevy Luv, well atleast the frame and drivetrain of the Luv truck that I am thinking about restoring...

I have many other projects so this one has to wait it's turn... I am thinking about turning this truck into a autocrosser/track truck...

You lucky dog. I wished I lived that close to Summit. I bet my wife is happier that we don't! A friend of mine was out that way a year ago for something. He had a day to kill so he checked out Summit. He was telling me about it. So last summer we planned our vacation to go out east and I made sure that Summit was one of the stops.

You have the same idea as me!

I've had a 1979 4X4 Luv for a few years, and a 408 cid SBC race motor that's been collecting dust for the last 4 years or so. Got to looking at them and a friend suggested putting them together.

My plan was to ditch the Luv's 4X4 running gear up front, making it a RWD. Find a front clip out of a sports car, suspension, brakes (everything), cut grind and weld until it looks like it fits the Luv chassis like factory. Put in a Jaguar independent rear suspension.

18" wheels and tires all around, then go hit the track.

This is definately a simplified explanation of the tremendous amount of work that will go into such a project, but I think I'm up to the challenge.

Thanks for the welcome, I really appreciate it, this truck is actually my first car when I turned 16 almost 10 years ago... I need to find another cab and bed for my truck though... the rear half of the frame behind the cab area will need to be rebuilt... the 1.8L that is on the frame only have 80k original miles... I think how small and light the truck is that it should be easy to get to handle well...

I love Summit racing, I actually grew up about an hour south of Summit racing, I now live not too far from Jegs High Performance...

I wanted to stop by Jegs too. But wasn't for sure where it was at. When I got an idea where it was at, we were already past it.I prefer Summit anyways.
