G'day, I've been a member for quite a while but I haven't posted much.

I was wondering if someone could take some measurements of their luv for me as I currently don't have one to measure (I had a '76 but I crushed it, I'm picking up a '73 in the next couple of weeks).

I would like to know track width of the front end from the mounting surfaces and the distance between chassis rails (outside or inside measurement).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Gilly

I know the front end rail width is just perfect for a jaguar series II front end to be welded in place

I hope you salvaged all the good parts off it, spares are hard to come by in the land of OZ.

Are you down under???

I would just buy an 88 or newer and put the cab on that.

Do some measurements on the Jag thing. Width wise it looks to work really well. Not sure on how the ride height would be.

My mate whos doing it is out of action, had an op last week, had 4 tendons re attached in his shoulder and something about a rotator cuff or something. He will be out for a while.

But then its not getting a luv or pup cab on it either.

Cheers, Bob.

Im a little bit addicted to fabrication, so as soon as i have made up my mind on a few things and as soon as i have a shed again i will be cutting everything off the chassis and starting again. whether i use jag components on the front end or not depends on the 'look' i end up going for, I want the front end to look as neat and simple as possible.

thanks for the info, very handy. want body is going onto your friends luv chassis? is he putting a rod on it or something?

Yeah hes got a 42 chev truck cab he is doing for a friend of ours. And a 48 F1 ford for himself. The Jag gear was for the ford, the chev allready had a dodgy HQ setup on the original chassis in it that needs to be redone some how. He got another propper std chev chassis and he is not sure if he wants to box it out and K frame it etc using the old butchered chassis or if he just starts with a pre boxed rodeo one.

I dont think you can get much more neat and simple than torsion bars.

With the Jag you would have to go coil overs. Ive seen them in rods but with a custom made crossmember to simplify the look. A-arms is neater than the strut bar in the luv/rodeo.

Bob.

1355mm if my memory is right.

Thats the front track, not sure if its mounting face of centre of tread to centre of tread.
