you might have to occasional pro-streeter who has an emotional attachment to one of these trucks for some odd reason, lol, who has dumped thosands into a 10-sec that he drove there. But I think anything under 10's theres probably not much luv left.

I saw a 74 or 75 at bandimere a couple years back that was doing wheelies all the way down the 1/4 with a big-block in the bed.

There is one in Grants Pass, OR, built by the "Muff Shop" exhaust shop, that runs 7s or 8s I think. It is a full LUV body, with some weight reduction, but basically still a luv. It has a alcohol injected 540 in it. Its not all LUV, but definetely all Chevy. If you ever see a Gold LUV in the pacific northwest running sub 9s, its probably this one. Its pretty wicked. The same shop built a 7 or 8 second Pinto with a turbo 2.3 in it. Its pretty nuts. They're probably the most innovative and dedicated builders in southern Oregon.

Since i am just getting into draggin mine. Here is some dumb questions.
True street radial class is plain street tires right.
I have street strips on aluminum rims. Would I have to run mine in the drad radial class. I am not using any electronics or nos. Plain ole power.

Want to run in the heads up class and not brackets. What is index racing.
Hope to have my first run in March. Should I take it out on a staight stretch out of town and get a close estimate first before I take it to the track

The rules mostly change from track to track, though some governing bodies have series that have a set of rules for several tracks/events.
True street radial can be either Non drag radial or a stock suspension/drag radial set up depending on the track. Index racing means you try to run a certain dial in with out breaking out. EX. 8.50. 9.50
Basically a heads up bracket race.

So how do you know what time to use. Do you get qualifying runs and pick your best shot.

You pretty much pick the index you think you can run, and go from there. If you can consistently run 8:20s, then you would rather run the 9:0 index than the 8:0. For sure several of your competitors can run right on, so you want to be a little faster so you can try to run right on the number by letting off, etc. just like bracket racing. You don't want to break out, you just want to run as close to the number as possible, but to slow, and they will be there first... It's pretty competitve, on another board a member gave an example of his 62 year old friend from a race 2 weeks ago. Won the money in 5.0 index (1/8 mile) 5 rounds with the fastest a 5.00, the slowest a 5.03. Worst reaction time of .017. If you can do that, you can be a winner too...
