i have a 79' mikado 4x4 that after a year of sitting i finally rebuilt the motor. fired up no problem, it will sit at idle no problem, but when i go for a test drive up the street it seems like every time i hit third the regulator fuse blows out. i rechecked all my conections but it still happens. any ideas?

That will do it. The coasting richer solenoid switch kicks in when the tranny is in third or fourth and just connects to ground. Good tidbit to know.

My 80 Luv keeps blowing the regulator fuse as well.
I have done some work on the wiring awhile back (I dont drive my truck much). Where were those two plugs on the wiring harness? I suppose I could just trace the wires from the carb. :D

Very interesting. *I think* the carb plug is located on the passenger side of the harness, about halfway between the fender and the hood latch. It's a keyed 4 prong connector. Series 10 manual shows: BG, BY, LgW, B wire colors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I have no idea what or where the tranny connector is, have I got my carb hooked to the wrong one? When you've got 5 posts, will you post pics milehighluv?

on mine, the tranny plug is the same type plug just a few inches away from the carb plug twards the middle of the fire wall.
