Hello All! I'm new and just beginning to realize how awesome these lil' trucks are! I've been lookin' at a 1975 LUV, owner says it runs but when I went to look at it there were some disconnected hoses and wires. He got a phone call as he was puttin' stuff back together and then had to run but I did get a chance to get a good look at it. Body is in very good shape, still it's original yellow with some rust, a few dings, but it's in TEXAS and I'm sure it wasn't used for Sunday Drives and grocery runs. It has all of it's windows, all of the lights were intact save the lens for one front turn signal. Interrior was rough, though he did say that the Speedometer worked and other than 1 knob missing off the radio all of the instruments appear to be intact. The owner did say that there was a 'knock' in the engine when it ran, said it was driveable though. He was not aware of any problem with the transmission. I live about 15 miles away and he said he figured it would make it at least that far.

I'm going back tomorrow to hear it run but am thinking even if it dosn't I'll make him an offer.


It has an Isuzu engine in it at the moment. The current owner tells me that it may be it's original engine. Is this possible? Or should I just go ahead and find a Chevy engine for it?

The Isuzu motor is factory. The luvs were made in Japan by Isuzu for Chevrolet.

This site is a wealth of information, with several members who know these things front to back. Several members have performed v8 conversions, and several have the stock motor that is running very well.
