just thought i would share some pics with yall....we had some big shots at work today, namely the governor of WV and Maj. General Tackett for a little shindig (which means i didn't do shit today, got off work at 1pm and got paid for 8 hours 8) )

here is what we start with, granted this is one of the worst ones, but they are all pretty fucked up.

Image

the body gets removed from the frame and either my team or the other team gets the body.

Image

we commence to repair the body filling any holes, straighten or replace panels, put in a 3 point seat belt kit, sand mask and prep for paint,

meanwhile the engine, frame and components are disassembled and rebuilt my section also gets the frame for repairs, prep and paint.

Image

after paint the frame goes back to reassemble for a new or rebuilt engine, trans, differential, and all components.

we then get the painted body back and reassemble all its little parts. new lights, new insulation, all the little canvas straps, new windshields, rubber bits like grommets and weather stripping.

Image

also the hood has been redone. new lights, cracks fiberglassed and fresh paint.

Image

then the body goes to final assembly. and mates back up with the assembled frame gets new seats, new canvas and the refurbished hood and inspected.

and this is my little bay where my team does tear down, repairs and reassemble of the body's.

i know that it dont look like much now but we just got started up. we are waiting on money for tool sets for each team. i have about 1/2 of my personal tools there right now.

Wow, I had no idea this was even done.

Most of the decommissioned hummers I've seen were all cut into quarters back in 90's at the DRMO in Seoul.

You must have some skills Larp, congratulations on the new job 8)

I'm currently employed by the manufacturer of the radiators in those and the large troop carriers and armored vehicles.

they are finding that it is cheaper to refurbish the humvees than it is to scrap them and buy new. alto some of them need to go to the scrap yard

ron, i have already thought about trying to johnny cash myself a humvee :P
