Just joined up from Az. I have a '73 and a '77 LUV. I put a used Toyota 20-R and 5 speed in the 73 and drove it for about 80,000 M. and finally it got tired. Pulled it out and rebuilt it then drove it for about 120,000 and rattled a rod. Parked it and bought the 77. It has 150,000 on it and I just blew the head gasket. Just finished putting on a new head two weeks ago and its running fine. Both trucks are/were work trucks so you won't be seeing any pics. HaHa. I sure do like them though. Thanks for your time. DH

Welcome. We wan't pics of the tired old overworked work trucks too.

I show them to my truck when it's acting up. It scares it right back into running good. :lol:

The 22R is a awesome motor. Sometimes I wonder if Toyota discontinued it because it was too good. 8)
