The standard is the TH400 is a 12" converter and the TH350 is a 11" converter. They will interchange but due to the slightly smaller bell housing of the TH350 the 12" will not always clear.

I have used the 350 converter on the 400s cause of there slightly less weight and about a 500-800 more stall speed depending on application.

Dose this help?

Ever thought of just putting T400 guts in T350?

Am I the only one here that's crazy enough to have ever done that before?

I ran that tranny combo in my old '79 GMC Caballero (GMC's version of an El Camino) with a built sbc 350 4-bolt and never had any problems. I put it for sale on the internet and a nice couple from Guam that owns a travel agency bought it and shipped it back to Guam about 5 years ago.

As far as I know...they're still driving it around there with the same tranny in it.

Just my $.02 worth...
