lmao 79-LUV'r! I did get your PM from the other day Shawunltd. I sent you a reply with a bunch of answers to your questions. I hope you got that one ok. If you sent me another one since, then I didn't receive it. The PM I did receive said that you would have to wait a couple weeks until you could buy a manifold or 2. Let me know when you are ready.

No trouble, you aren't the only one who has had issues with the PM. I have been reading your PMs ok and I got your address. If you want, PM me with your e-mail address and I will send the info to you at that. Thanks.

I just was thinking, since some people have been having issues with the PMs, I wanted to let everyone know that I did send out PMs a couple weeks ago to everyone who wanted a manifold or one in the future. Maybe some of you didn't receive the PM? I have only about 7 people so far that want one and 3 or 4 don't need one now. If anyone that wanted one didn't receive my PM, let me know and I will try to contact you again. You can even PM me with your e-mail address. That has seemed to be working for the people I have had trouble with the PM.

Ok, I have sent PMs or e-mail replies to everyone who contacted me with their shipping address. I hope I didn't miss anyone. Sorry for any inconvience. Hopefully all the PMs went through this time. I haven't deleted anything from my outbox or sent box yet, so maybe that could have been part of the problem last week when I sent out all the PMs? I had sent a whole bunch, so I wanted to keep my folders cleaned out, maybe deleting something from the outbox is a bad thing? Anyway, let me know if anyone who wanted a manifold didn't receive a message from me yet. Thanks.

If you delete a PM from your outbox it will un-send the message. Wait till it goes to your sentbox to indicate that the message has been read.

I was kinda wondering if that may have been the reason. I used to always let the whole message center just pile up, so with all these PMs I just started deleting all the sent stuff from sent and outbox. This time I let it all go, so I think everything worked this time around.

So when we put in our nice new shiny manfilols, 8) , will we use the stock mainfold gasket, or do we need something different?

That is a good question for Taz or one of the other highly knowledgeable LUV owners. I am not sure and I will most likely have someone install mine for me as I am not that good with the mechanical stuff. I have to say though that I have learned much from just reading stuff here on the message boards. :) There are a few things in the plastic bag that came with the manifolds, but I believe they are adaptor plates for the Weber and bolts for attaching the manifold to the carb. My guess is that the stock gasket would probably work since the manifold is designed to bolt up to these motors. I would also wonder if while in the process of replacing the manifold with the Offy if the gasket should be replaced too while things are torn apart. That does make sense to me. But again, I am not sure about this and probably someone here can answer your question.

Yep...a new stock gasket will work just fine. There appears to be basically everything you will need already in the box to install the new Offy manifold on your truck. What isn't included is on your old manifold and can be used.

If you are not going to use your stock smog stuff - then the egr hole on the underside of the manifold will have to be tapped and plugged. But that is about the only mod you will have to make, except for figuring out what to do about that doofus large crossover tube that goes from the stock exhaust over to the stock intake. The Offy manifold doesn't look like it has any connection for it - but I can't really tell untill I have one to set next to a stock one and compare them to each other. It might - and if it does, it's a simple thing to plug off that for those that want to eliminate that too.

Installing these won't be very hard. Just pay close attention to how you took it off, then set the two next each other and swap everything over/install everthing so that it all hooks up the same way as before and you're all set.

Once I get mine, I'll take pics and post them to show how to install one without using any stock smog stuff - and I will try to answer everyone's questions that are going to still use their stock smog stuff as best as I can.

Or if anyone else here wants to before I get a chance to - I promise I won't whine about it...lol

Hey Taz and or Mokadeth I hate to show my ignorance here :) and if this question has already been answered earlier in the thread I apologize...

Ok here's the question(s):

1. Were these simply reproduced because Intakes were non existent for our trucks and we now now have them for replacements?

2.And what are the benefits to an Intake being made of Aluminum as opposed to cast Iron? As obviously that was a change?

I think I remember reading earlier that the new ones you have here will or may help with Fuel efficiency.

3. If so, how will they if the only difference is the material that they are made of?

Hope these aren't stupid questions, I've never built a hot rod or modified an engine so there are so many things that are done and so many reasons why they are done that a novice can be overwhelmed with details, even basic Engineering purposes and goals.

This is one of the reasons I like this website I don't even know "Ben" but he rocks cause he has kept it going. He kinda reminds me of "Charlie" on Charlie's Angels has anybody ever seen him? Does he really exist ? LOL

Without it and you guys with all the knowledge, those of us starting out and those starting out with limited budgets really benefit from it and frankly sometimes ya'll save our ass :) Thanks for the patience with simple stuff :) Now gotta get outta here and make some money to spend on my truck :) .... Thanks guys :)

Taz, I think the tube from the exhaust side screws into the EGR "block", I'll call it. It's the piece of aluminum that the EGR valve bolts onto and the whole thing bolts up to the bottom of the manifold.

shawunltd,
The stock manifolds and the Offys are made of aluminum.
The Offys are designed for better air and fuel mixture flow, into the head.
And this better flow contributes to a smoother running eng., better mpg, and more power.

And Ben does exist. I've met him. But then again I might have had breakfast with an imposter. :? 8O
