Anyone know anything about this engine?

I've done some research but come up short. Maybe our Aussie members know what's what here.

This is a direct snip from a craigslist ad, in Medford, OR.

Opel Kadetts had the 1.8/1.9 engines in them. I got a distro from one... the GT had a different motor

I had a few of them for a few years. a 70 1.9 kadett / 74 1.9 Manta / 70 kadett 1.1 (my favorite). As you know there are very German. Bosch parts for the ignition/electrical. I think mine had Solex carbs.
From the diagram, you can note that the cam sits in the block as opposed to the overhead of a LUV. Cast steel head. and parts are rare or more so than any LUV stuff. The tranny was really cool, you hardly needed the clutch to shift, up or down, just have the engine rpm right and the syncro would fall right in place. Other than 4 cylinders I can't think that they have any relation to the Isuszu 1.9.

For me they seemed to be tough little motors that were easy to tune up. Come to think of it, I got rid of my last Opel when I bought my LUV!

That's all i can remember folks.
