Very cool.
I wish there was a web site or service (other than a PI) that would at least find out if an old vehicle is registered or junked. I would really like to know what happened to, and where are my families old cars and trucks.

Yea, I know it sounds creepy, but I don't mean it that way. And I know you were joking. I don't care who owns them, just maybe what city their in, if they are still registered, or if they saw the crusher. Who knows, Jay Leno might have any one of our Grandfathers old cars in his garage.

You know, I forget the situation now, but many years ago my dad had a plate # of a hit and run or something. For $10 the DMV would give him the reg. info for that plate, but the DMV had to also send a card to that person telling them that someone acquired their info. Something weird like that.

If you could find one and get the info for it - you could carfax it to find out it's history. But without the vin # - carfax won't help you.

Yep, I got freaked out one day back in the early 90's. Got a phone call from a guy that wanted to buy my 2wd S10 blazer as they are pretty rare in Colorado. I asked him how he new I had one and he said he went to the DMV and paid $25 to get a list of everyone in Colorado who had a 2WD blazer registered. I wasnt to happy that he could get all my info that easy. As for finding my first LUV, well it is in my garage, next to my grandfathers first vehicle! Would be cool to know what happened to my blazer and Dually I owned though. Did see my dually about 5 years after I sold it and it was trashed!!
I dont know if they changed it but a long time ago I tried running my LUV vin on carfax and it wouldnt work.

Yea I tried the Vin with Carfax also and it didn't work for me either.

However about 4 1/2 years ago I saw a 79 luv 4x4 on the side of the road broke down and went to the DMV with the plate number.

Paid a small fee got the guys info. Turns out he wasn't home but ha ha I left a note on the truck and the guy called, but the guy that called was a Mechanic who had ended up keeping it for the work he had done on it; cause the guy never paid.

Obviously he wasn't a very good mechanic... 8O However I now know the prob was the Carb. Anyway I had a chance to get it then for 500.00 but passed it up and have kicked myself a few times for passing it up since then....
