Hello to all. Just joined, I've been a looker for about a year now. I'm finally getting around to getting my 80 on the road. My question isn't how to lower. It is HOW LOW CAN I GO! I understand and have done the torsion bar lowering for the front I was wondering what people are running for block size in the rear and where would be a good place to pick those up?

Thanks

MIKE LOWE

YEA!! Someone other than me with a luv in CO, finally! Anyways, I used 3 inch blocks and picked them up from Autozone.

Darn, i wish you could see the back of my truck in this pic, but maybe it'll give you an idea. The tires are about 1in. from the fender outside, but i'm also running 295 50 15s

Be sure to get the cast steel blocks with the pinion angle already cut into the block. Your local speed shop or 4x4 store will have them.

Thanks,
Craig

darn, that sucks, i'm in Lakewood, and with 4.56s and the turbo POS, i mean, turbo 350, it'd take all day AND a tank of gas to go cruisin up there.

I'll take some pics 2moro when it's light out

ridgway369 has a good point, gotta think about that pinion angle. Don't forget to take into account your predicted axlewrap. i.e. launching torque, how many leafs you're running, traction bars, 4 links. Then again, unless you're racing or planning on 200,000 miles, it really doesn;t make too much of a difference i guess. You just dont want anything extreme, i'd think 10 degrees or so is ok

i went about 5 inches in the front with the torsions, and then i have 4in blocks in the back. i also still have all the leaf springs in it.

i could go lower, but not with these 18s.

 Where the heck have you guys been the last 23 years I lived there??? I move in May and NOW Colorado people start showing up. Only met 2 other (nice) LUV owners in the Denver area since 1984

Anyway, I dropped my truck 3 inches front and rear and I cant go any lower due to my wheel and tire combo, but you can't go much lower anyway without some frame and body modifications.

The cheap and easy way.

Im getting mine reset. Will give it a go myself i think if i can find the time, mate of mine has a big press. Lowering blocks are illegal down here.

What style are your chromies fella???

Maybe you should go with 15" or 16" steelies painted with white wall tyres.

I was razzing the guys Bob, I left the roughriders alone a long time ago. I'm with you though, dearching the springs is best, but not as inexpensive...

I wouldnt say inexpensive. If you can get access to a press and youve got patience, its just time consuming. Hence the cost if you get someone to do it.

As for rough riders. Its all good for the posers to do away with them, but its a truck and you need to use it like a truck. (insert tim the tool mans ugh ugh ugh here)

Heres the challenge, do your short trip (1/4 mile worth) and then load up the ton on the back and do the trip again. Bet that time wont be the only thing suffering. lol.

Bob.
