is there a way or a conversion kit that has a intake for 4 separate carbs like a motorbike just an idea.
Hmmmmm...
I don't see why it wouldn't work- I've heard of people using various motorcycle throttle bodies on Honda Civics (a 1.8l engine... imagine that) There was also a Prelude that came stock with 2 CV motorcycle carbs on it- My stepson used to have one.
Some of the things you'd have to figure out and build yourself:
Figure out
1. Intake runner length.
2. Carb Size. Easy enough- get the CFM for a stock carb, divide by 4, find a M/C carb that matches- I think.
3. Fuel Rail or 4 fuel lines? Fuel rail volume if used.
4. Mechanical or CV carbs?
5. If CV carbs, will you need an air box? Some of the older CV carb'ed bikes run like crap with pod filters.
6. Where to get vacuum for the vacuum advance
7. Jetting (bring a lunch- you're going to be at that for a while)
Build/modify:
1. 4 tube intake with some sort of coolant outlet
2. Fuel rail if you use one (not easy, I wouldn't think)
3. Throttle Cable bracket (and possibly a throttle cable)
4. Re-Space the carb rack (THAT's going to be a PITA)
5. Air box and mount if you use one.
6. Manual choke setup (brackets, LONG cable into the cab, etc)
That's off the top of my head, as I just started considering the idea tonight.
The pros are that you should get WAY better throttle response, possibly better performance, for sure better tune-ability, and possibly better fuel mileage. Might even improve your emissions. I'll bet it could be done pretty cheap too, if you did all your own welding on the manifold, bracketry and such.
Now that we've primed the pump for quad carbs, consider the possibilities of 4 throttle bodies and a mega-squirt controller....
It's an interesting idea- Maybe it's time for me to start looking for a rack of 38+mm mechanical carbs on e-bay... like these:
