The belt for the a/c that was added onto my 73 luv rubs a hole in the coolant hose. Had to remove a/c belt and replace hose. I would really like to have both coolant and a/c, Any suggestions? also it runs as if it is starving for fuel. This truck has been garaged since 1992 and has 17400 miles on it. We have replaced most parts, down to getting new fuel pum, points and plugs. Runs great with the gas cap off!

Check ALL the fuel vapor lines (could be clogged even though it looks good on the outside) and check valves from the tank up to the vapor canister.(behind that cover in the side of the bed). And the check valve on the fire wall on the right side of eng.

will do; do any of your trucks have an aftermarket a/c added? we have put on a different coolant hose that may allow for the a/c belt; we just didn't get the belt back on. My other money pit is horses (3) and a tree fell on our fence, spent the rest of day moving tree and fixing fence.

My 79 and 80 both have factory original a/c. The 80 works, the 79 does not. Would a longer or shorter belt let the compressor move away from the coolant hose? My compressor is on the right side of the end (passenger) and very low. My bottom radiator hose is over on the left side.

Compressor high on right side, just beside the radiator hose; went ahead and took a/c belt off for now. Bigger problem is fuel starvation that starts at 40mph. Have to play with manual choke to keep it running smoothly, idles fine though. We have replaced vacuum hoses front to back, dropped the tank and filtered fuel coming out and going back in, no sign of debris. changed plugs and wires, cleaned vacuum booster unit on inside of bed drivers side; now we are down to tearing down the carburator and maybe changing points. This will have to wait until I get my dually in and out of the shop; blew and injector or cam sensor so that will take care of any nest egg I had to work on 73 Luv.
