ok she's backfiring slightly when accelerating and shifting up through the gears and sometimes when down shifting. She did this before the tune up and although it isn't as loud it's still there...what do ya'll think???

Crank up the tunes real loud and it won't bother you much.

Or you could look for an exhaust/intake vacuum leak, or check your egr.

I had a slight backfire in my truck and it ended up being the air/smog pump that was causing it.

Check the donut between the header and exhaust. Or, if still equiped, the EGR fittin/tube coming off the manifold.

I had cut off, crimped and welded my EGR tube last year only to have the short piece of tubing fall out of the fitting later...backfired like a sombitch.

You mean a back friring in the exhaust.

Not back fring thru the carby.

In the exhaust is comonly caused by air gettin in and helping unburnt fuel to burn.
I took the belt off my smog pump. Passed smog, every time you would back off it would backfire like a shot gun.

It still burbles a fair bit when your backing off, so its a common thing to change down gears nice an early and keep the revs right into it.

Sounds pretty good actually. Its sorta sounds sporty, but i know its the exhaust and it full of holes.

But it doesnt do it when accelerating. That could be EGR related. But lets face it most EGR ports a clogged at the inlet. So i would say theres an exhaust leak at the EGR.
