Well, I have no idea what engine I have in my truck...

When I bought it it came with two engine blocks, I believe the one all rusted out to be the stock motor, and the one I have assembled is something else....

The piston size on the stock motor is 2.810", right? Mine is 3.325" and I cannot for the life of me find a piston that fits it! Does anyone know what engine it is?

Btw, this was written on the side of the motor...

79D28
SP-2 D

Don't know if that helps...

79D28 means it was made in december of 79, which means its a g180.

76-81 had the g180 crossflow engine. 72-75 had an isuzu 1.8 that was a non-crossflow engine.

So, where/how do I find a piston that will fit? And who in their right mind would bore it out .515"?

the stock piston isnt 2.8inches. i dont know where you came up with that, but its not true.

the stock piston size IS probably 3.325.

you must have a set of honda 750 pistons or something.

Thats what rockauto.com said, so I believed it to be true. So all I need is a stock piston? Awesome.

Is there anyway, just to be sure, someone can measure their piston and let me know what size it is?

Sure...now let me just reach through my carb, through my intake, past my valves, through my head, and into my block, so I can grab a piston while you hand me my micrometer.

My series 9 manual shows it's 3.307 stock.

Alright! :D

I meant someone with it torn down (seems like a lot of people Luv's on here are doing stuff to them).

It would be so much easier if you talked in metric.

Maybe not but it sure as hell would make my life easier. lol.

Not sure how much bigger you have to go but the G200Z motor has a bore of 87mm. Im pretty sure if your G180 is out that far you can use the G200Z pistons.

They are flat top and that will bump the compression with a G180Z head.

I got it. Rockauto had the MM numbers as well. It was just .50MM overbore.

Nonetheless, I got everything put back together and everything done right and now I have oil mixing with my antifreeze. I hope to god it is just my headgasket because if its not my block or head is cracked and thats just no fun.

It was meant as a joke Bob...geez.

I have no doubt he'll figure out it was something simple that he missed. It never fails that when you are in a hurry or stressing about something you are trying to get done, there always is that one little glitch.

Dudeus..don't let it get you down. There is no such thing as a perfect build.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea what any of you are even talking about, apart from being the headgasket or bein a cracked block or head, how else would my oil be mixing with my antifreeze?

Take the head back off and check to see if your intake gasket or your head gasket went on wrong or was defective. Also check to see if your timing cover is defective, since the water pump bolts to the outside of it.

If you cleaned your engine/parts well and checked them all over thoroughly before you assembled it, it would be pretty hard not to see a crack large enough to cause a lot of oil to mix with the coolant.

Other than that, unless you or someone else accidently spilled oil in where it doesn't belong somehow - I have no freakin' idea.

I'll try to help. Understand going in that I know little about the stock engines as I don't run them. I believe you determined you have a G180 engine. Does it have the G180 head or is it a G200? It should have it cast on the outside of the head somewhere. If memory serves, and someone familiar please chime in, there is a slight difference in the coolant passages and you have to use the head gasket for the head you are using. It could also be the wrong head gasket. A small crack could be anywhere, if the head is off, take it to a machine shop and have it pressure tested. Thoroughly clean the deck surface of the block and get a true straightedge and check to see if the deck is warped. On most any engine, more than .002 to .003 is bad. If all of the above checks out, then it is probably time to look for another block.
