 Post subject: No Spark

hey i'm having an issue with my 76. when i go to try to start it the truck cranks over but does not start up as if there is no spark...is there any suggestions as to what i can do to fix this?

1st take a spark plug out , hook it on the wire, lay it on the eng. in such a way that it gets ground, and then crank the eng. over. If the plug sparks, you have spark, if it doesn't you don't have spark and need to diagnose the ignition system.

k I have done that and there is no spark coming from the spark plug is it possible that the coil could have gone out or would it be something else at that point

Pull out all the fuses, and sand paper the contacts and fuses. Then put them back.
Pull the coil wire off and just lay it there real close to the coil. Then crank the eng. and see if you have any spark there.

ck your points and condenser(if so equiped).If they are bad,you will not get spark,also ck your ballest resistor,if it is bad,it may not pass volts through to your coil.
