would there be any significant change in gas mileage, power, etc. if i changed my stock carb with a webber 32/36 DGAV ??? i have been reading some older posts and most just say it would be more fuel efficient then other webbers, i just wanted to ask before i switched them out.

P.s. i have all the stuff to do this, its just a matter of if its worth the time to do it, oh and there is nothing wrong with the stock carb

I forget which Weber is which, so here's my answer.

If the DGAV is a progressive two barrel, like the stock carb. (you can tell this by only 1 barrel having a choke butterfly), then I would think it would get a little better MPG if you drive it nice. You WILL have more power and if you use the power...... your MPG will be lower, but you'll be there faster. 8)

If the DGAV has choke butterflies on both barrels, then it's a full time two barrel and it WILL have more power but most likely will use more gas all the time.

And if you end up doing this and want to sell the stocker, PM me. We need good stockers out here in CA. to pass smog checks with.

it is worth it... my sons when it was all stock except the Weber I put on made a big difference especially on the freeway going home to TX he said it was much easier to pass and getting on the onramps was so much faster and had no problems going up the steep hills, he didn’t have to down shift... also the mileage was a little better… I don’t remember anyone saying it wasn’t worth it

plus the stock carbs are junk anyways. 8) The only problem I have ever had with a weber is while driving in the winter the damn things freeze up.

Up here in Washington we get some pretty darn cold winters and I've never had my weber ever freeze up, and when I was still running a stock G180 1.8 with a 32/36 I got better gas mileage than with a stock crappy old Hitachi POS carb.

Switching to a hotter coil with an ectronic distributor/ignition module will help a bunch too.

Those old points-type distributors/ignition suck. They tend to fade a bit at higher rpm's.

well look on toyotas, datsuns, nissans, mazdas, isuzus, VW's or anything older 4 cylinder. I dont think they actually came stock with these webers. They are more of an aftermarket carb.

Some of these internet parts places like Parts america or parts train and such, have rebuilt Hitachi carbs. They seem to run about $277. I haven't bought one. I was just searching one day.

A stock, original Hitachi will pass the CA. smog requirement.
The Weber will make the truck run right.

You can get an adapter that will allow you to put the stock air cleaner on a weber installed in a luv so it will pass smog.

And a weber will always work better than even a new hitachi will. There really is no comparison.

And you should never drive any gas or diesel powered vehicle in the cold without warming it up first. That's just lke running it without any oil if you don't, since the colder it is, the longer it takes the oil to circulate and start to protect all the moving parts.

Bad pee-roy. Shame on you.

thank you guys for all the input, i got them switched out and its running now, time to tune look for vac leaks and find a better way to attach the throttle cable (i dont think the zip tie holding it would meet DOT standards) so until i fix that she is driveway bound :(
