The topic is THE vehicle we once owned and sold, and wish we had now...

Mine:

1967 AMC (Rambler) Rebel Convertible, 287, AT, Factory AC, PS, PB, power top. Paid $200 for it in 1985. One of 847 made. The car was on the shy side of a good #3, people were always mistaking it for a '67/'68 Roadrunner. Today it's worth about $4000.

A tie for runner up:
1970 Dodge Charger, Factory slant 6, AT, plain jane. Paid $300 for it in 1990. Lots of deductions today for lack of a V8 and options, but still worth close to $5000.

1962 Studebaker Lark Regal 2DHT, straight 6, AT. Paid $250 for it in 1985. Value today, about $4000.

I've got pics of the Lark and the Charger somewhere, maybe the 'vert...
Sigh...

Mine was a triple black 67 SS396 Chevelle. Gave $400 for it in 1985.

Next would be a marina blue 67, and a 71 SS454 4speed car.

A LUV similar to HotRod80's and a 69 Firebird also got away.

Mine would be my Stealth Midget race car that I bought from Tony Stewart. He won a national championship in USAC with it. I bought it and ran 10 races, 8 top 5's, 10 top 10's and 3 wins. I hooked another race car's right rear tire and "went for a ride" down the front straight away in Santa Maria raceway. The car was totaled, damn what a special car.

Mine would be my stepDad's 73 (y'all be nice  ) AMC Javelin 360 4bbl a/c, ps, auto, trunk spoiler, Blue with white T-stripe & white 1/2vinyl top.
I know, I know... AMC (stands for Any More Cars we can use for parts) but it looked tuff, went VERYfast, & I was 15.
It had been promised to me for over a year, but he totaled it a month before I turned 16.
I excelled at young&stewpid  & I'd probly have wrapped it & me around a tree anyway.

Second would be my old 1983 Grand Prix Brougham I inherited from an elderly aunt when her husband passed.
It was 12 yrs old & had 60K miles when I got it. Absolutely CHERRY!!
Small block, last yr of carbureted (4bbl), first yr with OD tranny, ps, pb, pw, cruise, tilt, opera lights, corner marker lights, loaded.
It was cream with a brown vinyl Landau top, brown velour interior, CLEAN 8O , B I G ex-wife sized trunk.
On the highway with the a/c on she got 22mpg floating along @ 75-80. After 7 yrs sold it to finish paying for school.
She had passed & left me her Mercury Gr Marquis & the Poncho mostly stayed parked.
Every time I drove it (in Savannah) the bros would wave & holler at me, "YO! Sell me your caw!".
It's probly green w/ gold 22" wires & hydraulics now :? .

mine.. it would have to be the '91 camaro i had in high school. 305/5 speed, t-tops, red, a/c.... flowmaster. i had a lot of good times in that car. and i got about 17 - 20 mpg with it.

i wish my grams hadn't sold her blue/white top '74 caprice convertible that they bought in '76 and parked in about '83. #'s matching 454/th-400. that car was pristine when she sold it for about $5000. i saw it on the internet a few months back, the guy she sold it to wanted $20,000 for it.

As much as these cars were loved & as sad as it was to see them go, it's good to see them sold for better reasons than a big wad of ca$h.

The only one I've ever sold was my white 79 4x4 LUV. Lifted so that 235-75/15s fit perfect, hand made heavy aluminum diamond plate rocker covers, and a pretty unfortunate case of road salt rot in the floorboards. I sold it because the wife (at the time) was sick of having three rigs. Worst part is that it is still local so I see it from time to time. Last time it was looking pretty sad. On the plus side, it got me moving on fixing up the current 79 4x4 I have around now.

My dad should have kept his 58 Impala convertible, sold it back in the 70s because the top leaked and they needed something that held water out. He replaced it with a 66 Elcamino that he still has, but I'd trade that 66 for the 58 any day. Since then he hasn't sold any car or truck except for a couple of Fords, a Volvo, and a 50 Chevy car that he sold to the son of the guy he bought it from 40 years earlier. Guess you learn too late sometimes, but there is always the hope that someone hung onto your baby and will let you get it back.
