Does anyone know how much bearings will cost me?

Oh, and just out of curiousity, how much would a Small Block V8 run me? Like from a junk yard or something... working though...

Good sir Dudeus!
I have a ridiculous amount of down time at the office-so-I decided to make a parts/price list.

take a close look at the parts/prices I have listed-if anything seems high/low-tell--
(for Dudeus' LUV)
List-
clutch kit (new)-89.88
carburetor (rebuild)-285.99
fan clutch (no blade)-37.99
fan clutch blade-????
cylinder honing-30 (diy apx.)
engine rebuild -342.88 (option 1)
-pistons
-rings
-main bearings
-rod bearings
-thrust washers (needed in LUV??)
-jack shaft bearings (needed in LUV??)
-camshaft bearings
-freeze plugs
-gasket set
-oil pump
engine rebuild-363.21 (option 2)
-rings
-recessed head piston
-main bearings
-rod bearings
-cam bearings
-oil pump
-camshaft
-timing components
-gaskets
engine rebuild-125.27 (option 3)
-main bearings
-rod bearings
-rings
-gaskets
-piston (need one?) Dude-you remember if we need a whole new piston?
oil pump-64.96 (seperate buy necessary for option 3)

total-786.74 (option 1-no fan blade-no camshaft-no timing+4 pistons?)
total-807.07 (option 2-no fan blade+1 piston?)
total-637.09 (option 3-no fan blade-no piston-no camshaft-no timing)

Unless you are restoring the truck, I'd seriously consider a Weber for that amount of coin. Got mine off ebay from an early 70's BMW 2002 (Weber DGAV 33B 32/36). Redline sells a kit new for that price, or you can get just the mounting/linkage kit on ebay for about $80. There is an obscene amount of info here on the site about Weber upgrades for these trucks.

Truck looks great dudeus, good luck..

With your truck being a 4X4 you will not be able to "just drop a small block in it". The problem is that the stock 4X4 has a trans that is married to the transfer case, so if you want a small block you will need a trans and transfer case as well. It can and has been done but it would be a allot cheaper to rebuild your 4 cylinder. I just got done rebuilding my 4 cylinder and it was cheap and easy. I also just got done building a small block for my 74, the money involved on both was like comparing apples to oranges. I would also speculate that you would be taking a chance buying a motor from a wreaking yard, I would guess that there would be a chance the wreaking yard motor would have to be rebuilt sooner then later. I would strongly suggest that you rebuild your 4 cyl and just get it going and do the major mod's later, after all you just want a reliable good running truck as soon as you can right?

Well we have completely stripped apart the engine and everything looks great, timing chain looks brand new, crank and pistons look good, bearings look, eh, but we are replacing them anyways.

Now I gotta start buyin the parts, fun time begins...

you should get a bunch of massive two inch steel and rivet the front solid :D
this is great for two reasons
-will make your twisted skid plate less obvious
-will make clean up of blood much easier! no picking crap out of your grill!

IMO you should post a WTB-carburetor thread in the classifieds-I'm pretty sure your dad has given up on the carb+still have yet to find a ford adaptor

cheapest I've found
