I got a 79 chevy luv for my 17th birthday, and it's my first vehicle. It's a very fun ride, and i drive it everywhere. I installed a new Wal Mart stereo the first month i got it. It was a little tricky, due to the fact the kid before had a CB installed. Right now my clutch is going. I was wondering if that is a common problem Luvs, and if anyone had any tips on fixing it, or if i just need to replace it.

How many miles on the truck. Is it slipping. I would replace it and the pressure plate that way you know what you have and be good to go for a long time. Of course unless you do the old hold on the hill with the clutch routine all the time.

Chavy has a good point. Check the bracket under the dash that the clutch pedal hands from. They get bent, loose and crack and brake. If it is bent badly, it could not let you push the pedal to the floor.

I have now had that problem with 2 LUV's! It is a pain to pull out that bracket, but once you do you can get a shop to weld it up and it will be as good or even better than new. It is almost worth it to pay to get it welded than to buy another used bracket for fear of the same thing happening!! That's just my 2 cents worth.
