OK how about more info, not knowing the condition of your trans makes things a little difficult but when in doubt pull the trans a rebuild it.If i recall correctly(getting old you know)you have a TH350. In stock condition they are not that great of a trans ,but with a little work they can be made just about bullet proof.I shift kit is a crutch that will help but the trans is setup to loose and will go away some time (been there done that). Now for the good news the clutches are the one main weak point as they are set to loose when rebuilding they need to be set a lot tighter clearances then stock,if you were running a big power motor the the sprag is next but with a V6 that is not an issue. So it boils down to this, after building allot of t-350s and living behind big blocks, get a TCI shift kit and install it,if the trans needs rebuilt later get the TCI trans kit rebuild the trans to V8 specs and with the shift kit all ready there your trans will be very solid and just about indestructible in your application.
