okay i got a 74 luv that i bought a new brake booster, mastercyclinder, new front calipers and i have monte carlo front calipers for my rear disc set up. I bleeded the lines starting furthest away and got all the air out off the line, my front calipers will lock but the pedal goes all the way to the floor really musshy pedal. the back brakes barely grave the rotor( with the back in the air running in gear with brakes on the wheel still spins) any suggestions? And does a 74-76 brakelines setup the same way at the mastercylinder

Might have to bleed out the master cylinder?

The factory proportioning valve is set up for the stock rear drums, you'll need to install an adjustable to get the bias set for the rear discs.

Monte Carlo FRONT calipers used as REAR discs? I don't think the master cylinder will move enough fluid to the rear for those. Heck, aren't those Monte Carlo's bigger than the stock LUV front calipers?

Custom mounting brackets? Is the bleed valve at the top of the caliper so the air bleeds out?

i bleeded all the air out off the lines for sure. How would a portioning valve work if the front brakes are setup on a seprate line just for the front? and the rear has a line just for the rear.

So, Give some info. You have a line directly from the master cyl, to the rear with a splitter, and the same set up to the front. It doesn't go through the stock lines? What type of master? Power or manual now and/or originally?

I missed that bit.

On what discs????

If the discs arent the same thickness as the Monte Carlo ones they wont work. The pistons will have to move heaps just to get to the point where they touch the discs. When the pads are 1/2 worn they will fall out.

What are you using for a Park/Emergency brake???

Bob.

You need a buddy to help but try this have your bud step on the brakes hard and watch the rear calipers and see if they are flexing any at all , if so you will need to address that issue now for the hard part you didn't say if you are using front or rear calipers in the back if you are using front ones once you get the rest of the system to work you will probably find that even an adjustable proportioning valve may not work correctly as the piston in the caliper is way to big to control(been there done that)as well as no park brake but there is one that will work as i have built three brake systems using them( poor boy don't you know)the set up on the 80s up Comaros work but can be pricey i used the calipers and mounts off the rear of a 85 Olds Toronado with the rotors off a 75 Toro. front turned down to .990 to fit the calipers(all so makes for a lighter set up)and have parking brake to.I have no prop. valve as i have 31-18.5s and want the rear to get more brake.Contrary to popular belief it dose not take much fluid movement to make disc calipers work as the fluid is always there but if the caliper is flexing then you need to catch up with it and that dose take allot of fluid.Something to think about "if the brakes are mushy then either there is air in the system or something is moving that is not supposed to move period'.I know this is long but i don't know how to paragraph. computer moron at times
