I put a new Accel coil in today, and new plugs that were gapped .044" for e-dizzy specs. I also adjusted the valves. I didn't change the top cover gasket yet, because the last time I went to Sears I forgot to pick up the 10mm hex socket for retorquing the head bolts. Good excuse for a ride, huh?

Went around the block and the difference is the ride is a lot smoother, and the engine idles real even. It started immediately, and the throttle response is very quick. I haven't taken it out to stretch it's legs, but my RumbleBee is happy!!!

Hey Fulla. That's good that you sold that hoist. You shouldn't need it again for years. Have you sold that mini van too? You don't need it just sitting around broken.

I'm watching all this elec. dizzy stuff. might have to go that route some time.

Can you give me more info on that pop rivet/nut thingy. I think I can't live without one of those. I'll screw up everything around the house with that! I have a pop rivet gun already, I wonder if there is just an attachment for it or if I need the whole thing.? Where can I get one? I checked at Lowes today, no dice.

Gawrsh, I can't hardly believe Lowes didn't have one. Maybe you went in the gardening department instead of the tool department!!! Yuk, yuk. Just jerking yer chain.

I went to the hardware store for the pieces, or rivnuts, that go in the hole. The hole was drilled with a 19/64th drill bit, then the rivnut is inserted. A threaded rod is screwed into the rivnut, and the tool together. Pressure is applied to crimp the inner part of the rivnut to the back side of the sheet metal, and this is done in stages, tightening it as you go. I didn't actually handle the tool. My friend Jeff owned the tool, and volunteered to do the mounting. I was supposed to be photographing him, but most of the time I was watching and talking. I got more photos than I posted already. I'll also go by the hardware later and see about the tool. I saw it hanging on the wall, but I didn't even look to see it's price. Sears probably has one. They come with different sized rods to accommodate different sizes of screws for the intended purpose. The rivnuts are a standard size, 19/64ths. They were about 85¢ each. On my mirror installation, all the screws and washers were stainless steel, and the rivnuts were steel.

I can't say whether you already have the right tool or not, but I'll go take a look, and get back to ya.

Just about any nut/bolt store will have them i got mine at a Fastenal store there not cheap but if your into doing the fab work they are worth it and you can get different mandrels to do different sizes as i have 4 sizes.I also like to use button head stainless bolts allot and they are about the cheapest source for ss bolts.

I never heard of Fastenal. I'll see if they're around the Seattle area. TJ should be able to tell us all about it. I went to Kent Tool, they were closed, Home Depot does even know what a Rivnut is, and another local hardware was closed too. I tried, but it's too late.

My LUV sure has a power boost now, though!!! Wow, I'm worrying about my head breaking the back window from all the rocket blasts!!! Much better running, and way more power. I'm really pleased with it, and I would highly recommend electronic ignition to anyone with a LUV. I found the same dizzy online under an Isuzu I-Mark "85, but it's about $150 or so. I'm really fortunate to have gotten the one I did, as this one is remanufactured using better than original parts. I'm also very pleased with the Hitachi carb as it's doing just fine. This LUV runs great, and that's all I have to say.
