The dots are applied by the track. They change colors each week, helps 'em be sure the vehicles on the track have had that weeks entry fee paid. Most of 'em also put a colored arm band on the driver, so if you and your friends take a vehicle to the track, everybody that drives it have to pay...

Got a list of things to do after the clobberthon this weekend . The new converter is on the garge floor in the box ready to go in , Toyota rotor conversion has to come back off and taken apart machined to narrow front wheel base and reassembled , front ball joints and bushings need to be replaced and steering components freshened up . i will be cleaning and painting parts during this time in between yard work ( my wifes hobby ) and contractors painting the house .

Well , I got the converter in and i'm consistantly deep in the 1.6's @60 . The converter had a clicking noise to it at first , but that went away after 2 passes . I also lost 6 mph! The #6 exhaust lifter had a pluger spring collapse . The plunger stuck to the bottom of lifter tossing the push rod , bending retainer , and killing that cylinder at 660' on the third pass . It smoked like a chiminy out the passenger side on that pass . I lifted and it went 12.55 . So my "trainer" motor has the top torn off of it waiting on lifter and gaskets . i have 105 passes on this motor . I am redoing the radiator again . I will have built a fan shroud and will be using a 13" flex fan . Now that it's in the 80's down here I am seeing a heat problem creeping up on me . I really have not had this thing running through a summer yet . I also have a pinched o-ring on the passenger side of the 9" that needs to be fixed . The machine work on the front rotors has been moved back due to more severe issues and I have yet to start replacing front end parts . I'll keep you posted .

I got the valves adjusted today . Motor is running great . My fan and shroud Idea failed , so I went to plan B . I pulled the shroud , fan & pulley and installed a 17" 7 blade flex fan with a smaller water pump pulley . I can't get it over 175 now . If it does not rain tomorrow I will drive it around all day .

Well I drove it all week long. I worked the weekend and decided to take the truck out sunday night for street car night . The track just wasnot there . It blew the tires off 3 times . I got this great idea to pull the traction bars and let the weigh transfer to see if it would hook . Well it hooked and pulled a wheelie and crushed the rear leaf springs . The new converter is tighter than the old B&M 3000 I had in it . i will be replacing it after this race . I replaced the leafs with a set I borrowed from rbman , so i'm ready for clobberthon on the 28th . The pay out has gone up to $500 and if I run the next one the June race is double payout . Truck is running good . Bought new slicks , still waiting on them . New motor is at machine shop . Wife is about to hang me over money i'm spending on this thing .

I find that a dozen roses a week and a "date night" goes a long way in LUV spending.

A happy wife = A happy life.

My wifes pretty cool about this stuff . I was doing it when she met me . She actually rode in it for the first time a week ago . We cruised to the local car meet down town and had a malt on the way home . I never spun a tire . When we got home she told me she really had fun and would love to do it again soon . I told her we needed a model A Ford . She just laughed . She understands . My daugther has all but claimed my 68' Camaro . She has a picture of her and her mom in the old one coming home from the hospital when she was born .

I bought a 73 Z/28 not long after I got married, my wife wanted it for her. Well it was a 427 BBC, 4 speed with a 12 bolt, 4:56 gears, etc., I really didn't want her to drive it 'cause all she had ever driven was an Escort. We went to the malt shop with me at the wheel, Side stepped the clutch in first, sideways in 2nd, got it straight in 3rd. She decided she would rather have my Jeep. We were both happy...

Thought i'd post an update .
I ran clobberthon , but got trailered first round my7.66 to a 7.64 :(

Pulled the new converter and sent it back for mods , they missed the stall by 1000 rpm . I had a buddy give me an old transking j9 (there loosest footbrake bracket race converter 4500) so I threw it in just to move the truck around while i was waiting on the repair . i put the rallies on it and took it to the auto parts not thinking about the race converter . This thing is perfect . Footbrake to 2800 , flashes to 3600 . truck drives good on the street , not to much tranny heat . I'm gonna run it friday night and see what it will do . next clobberthon is on the 26 and they dropped 2 classes so my class has doubled in cars now . Also bought new slicks , Put 79 jets in all 4 corners , and changed over to 31 squirters . All stumble is gone . This thing outta move on out . Also added carpet , guess I should post a current pic of truck and carpet .
