is it leaking by the thermostat housing? or towards the rear of the engine?

theres 2 coolant passages that can go bad on these engines. one is where the coolant flows from the head to the thermostat housing. then theres one thats between the #3 and #4 intake ports.

yea its external leak I cant tell where it is tho truck is running great so I dont think its a head gaskit

you can always use some coolant dye if your unsure or have a hard time finding it.... But Id look at what some of the more experienced 1.8 owners have to say, like Farmer Joe

Coolant dye is about 5-10 bucks and a black light to see the dye is another 5 bucks or so. If you do it in the dark you will see the dye alot more clearly.
