I believe they also serve as a turn signal.

I don't know about Australia, but here in the states they are a park/turn combo. Turn signals require a much brighter light than the park lights. One filiment is used for park and the other for turn.

The side marker and front turn setup is different in the Oz luvs from the US so we are going to be pretty clueless. Over here we just have one bulb in the bumper park/turn combo lights.

Pull the bulb and make sure the socket it is in has two contacts. Could be someone just put in the wrong bulbs.

I bet they just used the same parts for US and Aus markets with different lenses to save money. No sense in designing and making two different parts at the factory when one can be used for both.

If conect the second wire it lights the second filament in the globe Increases the brightness of the park light, not much point doing that

You could wire them to an alternating flasher so they'd blink back and forth. Then go play undercover cop or something. ;) Only other idea I'd have would be to use them as flashers for an alarm system or something, they would be brighter than just the standard parkers.
