Now that I feel better and have some free time now is a good time to update everyone on my LUV (of coarse if anyone cares). It should be getting the firewall and inner fenders painted tomorrow. I spent a ton of time filling unneeded holes and removing the e-brake parts. The motor is done, 406CI and trans is done, a fresh rebuild and a B&M trans pack shift kit with a 10" B&M converter with a 28-32K stall. I just bought a fiberglass tonnue cover from a late model Toyota Tundra that I will plan on cutting down to fit and paint to match. Part of my problem with the paint is it is 3 stage, base coat, pearl then clear so I needed to leave that to a pro that is doing it as a favor so it is fill in work for him. I am fearful that with the new intake I may have air cleaner clearance problem so that remains to be seen and will deal with that bridge when I get to it. Still would like to get a set of super comp headers so I may just order a new set. I will post pics if it gets painted tomorrow. I am hoping that after all of this work mentioned is done the truck will be done. I know we are never done but I really want to finish this so I can start a new project. I am looking for a late 50's Cadi hurst to pro street.

My last converter was a 28-32 holeshot B&M . I loved it . Probably made a mistake pulling it out. Glad to hear your getting it together .

350 Trans, 11.5-1 compression and my cam is like a .540 lift, I do not have the cam card here. Also running 1.6-1 rockers.

Wow, good job. I was thinking about asking you where you were on the truck, but just figured you'd tell us when you were ready.

My next project is my 72 GMC. I'm tired of the oil leaks in the driveway , so I think I might dig into it soon.

looks nice 8)

in pic 1 and 3 there is a u-shaped bracket on the top passanger side of the firewall....
Whats that for??

I keep looking at mine, and Ive marked it to take off.... but none of my pics show anything attached to it, and I see it on your firewall still.

11.5 .... wow.... I guess that means you wont be doing any forced induction huh...lol
Im going to guess that you are carbed, what cfm? What kind of fuel are you using?

Sorry for so many Q's.... I like to pick at peoples brains

The U shaped bracket is for the stock windshield bottle. I elected to keep mine as this is a street truck. I am running a 850 CFM card and spray.I plan on mixing some pump gas and race gas for the street. If you noticed I removed all of the E brake brackets from the fire wall. I will tell you it was much more work then it looks to clean up that small area.

ive already taken out the battery box part.. I know what your saying...
I also did some other small welding and grinding on the body.... its pretty tedious and slow for the fear of warping.
My e-brake pulley mount is elected to be removed too..... along with a few other things.

Ouch!
We're even over here right now. 3 Fords (my and my son's
F250's, and my wifes car) ,and 3 GM's ( 2 LUVs and "the Jimmy")
My Dad says when he comes over, "It's like a darn used car lot around here."
Plus two of my sons have girlfriends, 1 Ford car and one Saturn. (a Saturn is about as GM as a LUV)

Today was a great day for my LUV. I got it home and reinstalled all of the brakes, master cylinder, and all electrical. I guess tomorrow is the day to stuff the motor and trans in. If I have some luck behind me I may get this thing on the road Saturday. I am excited, it is close to road worthy again. It was a tuff road for this phase. I built a new trans, engine, modified all of the electrical and painted the firewall.

Ron, you know I am just screwing with you right?

I am not trying to copy John, my motors are allways painted yellow.

I know you are. Truck looks good. I'm off work tomorrow, thought for a minute about coming over to watch you. But don't feel like driving 80 miles just to see you. I've got other things to do also.
You need to get a couple new master cylinder reservoirs. Those look a little yellowed. Good luck tomorrow.

Any idea where to get the reservoirs? You should have seen them before I cleaned them.

Looks great. Glad to see I am not the only one using blue painters tape to mark wiring connections. Who would think you use that tape and then remove the whole thing to paint it. bet the inventor never thought of that use.

The blue tape is the best. It seams to pull off easy and does not leave any residue but still holds to the body great. I modified the harness while it was out so I had to identify what each wire was, so what the hell mark them with the blue tape.

New ones came with my new master cylinder from the parts store. My old ones were yellowed also.
