Curious...

Has anyone ever seen a Mikado wheel with this symbol?
All I've ever seen are bowties there. Could be an add-on, but sure looks like stock.

Mystery continues...

Curiosity got the best of me, so I removed the center horn pad to take a look. From the looks of it, the emblem has to be original, under that pad is a recessed circle with about a 1/4" notch in the top. The diameter, depth and notch are perfect match to the emblem. the Spider emblem is in no way homemade, has a silvery paint like what are used on mirrors on the back, and a small part number 'S3' relief molded on the notch.

What does all this mean....absolutely nothing :) , just found it interesting and kinda unique.

Oh hey, CTMANDU, I found your mystery console listed in a parts catalog too. Gonna try to build something similar. if you still have it and have the time, could you post some basic dimensions?

I would bet my life that emblem is NOT factory. A previous owner found out that it was close or exact same size and switched them and after time the rubber of the horn has formed to the shape of that emblem. Looks to me like something off an aftermarket gear shift knob.

What rubber?
It sits in a hard plastic inlay on the wheel. You may be right. If so, whoever made it to fit had some dremel skills.

Maybe a bit much, actualy it reminded me of an insignia/patch I had when I was in the Army, thinking maybe a window decal will do :)

After looking into it some, the wheels were not, they are 2 spoke, the buttons are very close. Though that pad on my wheel is not the horn, there is a button on each spoke of the Mikado wheel for horn, that part is listed a pad.

Not all the Spyders had that wheel, the 80 I had definitely had a factory 3 spoke. I'm pretty sure that the button you have is the same. Mine had a red interior, so the colors varied. The wheel rubber was red also. Still cool looking.

That 2 spoke is actualy a cool looking wheel. And I think the Spyder had a tilt option... may hafta look for one next time I'm in a salvage yard.

the 4spd console and auto console use the same shell, just the insert for the shifter is different.. according to the factory parts manual.
