Is there any way simple to squeeze a little more power out of the 1.8? I already have the weber carb. Its a farley new motor and runs great. I got the 5 speed in runs great but need a little power for the larger hills. I am already planning on puting my 2.6 in next fall or winter but it would be real nice to get about 20 more ponys out of it till then. Its a 4x4 too.

How about an Impulse turbo/manifold set up and the carb set for blow through? I keep looking at doing this and the more i study it the better it looks as the parts to make it work are simple and handy.

I built a little buggie with a blow-thru turbo, its had dual webers that i set up for a B/T turbo but it kept on blowing out the seals on the float bowls. I'd think you'd almost be better off setting a holley 2bbl up on the in-side of the turbo.

so would the 2.0 impulse efi parts or turbo parts anyway fit onto the g180 luv engine? and if so... I WANT EM! also wouldnt it be dangerous to make the air fuel mixture go through the turbo since it is really hot from the exhaust... just a few questions, but i am more interested to find out if the turbo system would fit onto my g180

A draw through turbo system is quite common and works as good as a blow through but you need to have the turbo resealed with a double lip seal for the draw through setup if you are using a blow through turbo to start with. 8O Sounds confusing don't it but it is no harder then sending the turbo to a rebuilder and tell them what you are doing. I don't see any problem with using the g-200 Impulse turbo and manifold to do this.

Turbo shmurbo...FFS

Just get a Pacesetter header and send a stock cam in to Delta in Tacoma to get re-done and tell them you want a little more low-rpm torque. Also snag the electronic ignition module, coil, and distributor out of an 82 pup, luv, or i-mark with a G180 and install it.

That all will boost you up at least 30-40 hp and that oughta put a lot more glide in your slide Clyde.

(And it won't cost you a fortune, tear up your engine, or blow up in your face either.)

And if you are going to use anything from an Impulse, grab a 1.9 long block, use your header, use the electronic distributor and ignition module, use your weber, and add a re-done cam.

My 79 shorty step-side with a Impulse G200z, 5 speed, new pup rear-end, weber 38/38, header, 82 electronic ignition, Accel high output coil, and cam is plenty quick enough to scare the crap out of any passengers that have the nerve to bitch about my driving....lol

8O Turbos are about the best power for the buck gain you can do BUT physics do apply.(And Murphies Law)The amount of destruction to the motor is directly proportional to the amount of pressure applied to the throttle pedal as well as the amount of time held in said position.

alright... but it is still possible to add the turbo stuff onto my pickup, and if so then i wanna know exactly how to make a carb/turbo or even easier a centrifugalk supercharger :D i know it would take some custom mount for the charger, but i also put a 350 chev alt in my luv, and it works fine... my truck is a bit of a frankenstein for now jsut to work right...ish
bakc to the turbo how can it be done
