Hey all, I have a really simple question. I need a new core support for my truck and I was wondering if they were bolted in or welded in?

Thanks,
Jess

I guess this wasn't that easy of a question? 32 views and no replies?

Are you referring to the part that the sides of the radiator bolt to?

Or the piece above the radiator that the hood bolts to?

Assuming your talking about the framework on the front of the truck that holds the radiator, hood, headlights, etc., that whole front piece is spot welded together and spot welded to the rest of the cab.

However it could be replaced by someone with steel cutting, grinding, and welding abilities.

ok thanks that's what I needed to know. I'm missing part of it from when the engine was installed the first time, so I think we're going to have to fabricate a piece to make it work.

Are you talkin about the piece that is missing in the front of this truck?

They usually cut it out, so its easier to get the motor in, or out. Im sure you can fab up something nice to replace it.

Hey Jess - I finally got the 350 in mine and when I went to the board I noticed you hadn't been posting much anymore. I'm glad to see you're back on and working on your truck again - us ladies have to stick together ya know. Anyway, here's a picture of mine. We just bolted in a piece of steel where the hood hinges used to be to hold everything together and to support the radiator and front grill. Hope this helps!

Hi, I wanted to ask where could I get a new radiator core support for an 81-82 LUV or same body style PUP? I'm going to be replacing the cab on my 82 LUV with a newer, rust free cab and the replacement one I'm looking at buying looks like it will need the radiator core support cut out and replaced. Anyone here on the board have one that's possibly collecting dust as a NOS part or anyone know where to get the piece online? Nothing beats a new part and I'd like to try to go with a support that's new for this good condition cab I'm possibly going to buy. Thanks and I appreciate any replies.

Salvy

Thanks, Luvnit. It was a four month process but I'm drivin' it now every day and luvin every minute of it. I'll be posting some newer pics hopefully next week that shows how everything finally turned out. It's really strange to drive because I've gone from my daily driver of a lifted 77 Wagoneer to the luv -

and believe it or not, the Wag gets better mileage than the luv! I've gone from looking down and running over people to looking up to make sure I don't get run over :o)

Can anyone provide any advice on where to get a new radiator core support for an 81-82 LUV/81-87 PUP? Really need to know if I can get one for a possible fix on a cab. Thanks and really appreciate any info.
