QA1 shock #3855 is what I have. 11 1/8" extended, 8 5/8 compressed. QA1 spring # 7-350, 7" length. You can get them at Summit, Jegs or any other speed shop. Bottom mounts to the existing hole but the top youll either have to have some mounts made or buy some from a circle track store or street rod store. http://www.speedwaymotors.com has some nice ones.

Is the ride height the same as a stock LUV or lower/higher than normal with the coil overs that you installed?

ON the shocks, the # 7-350, is the 350 the spring rate?
I am looking at the QA1 site and I found this:
QA1 7" X 2.5" I.D.
250=under 1200 lbs.
350=1200-1500 lbs.
450=1600-2000 lbs.

OK, I found it, 350 is the spring rate...pays to keep researching!

If this is correct, then what is the understood front weight with the small block?
I found this thread, basically rounding it out to about 2700-2800/give or take. ( http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.ph ... ght=weight)
So should we divide that in 1/2 or go 60-40% on deciding this #?

Also, on the top shock T-mount , what is the spacing off of the frame that most of you have?

damn i wonder what spring that is on the blue SC'd truck its a progressive spring. I'd be interested in that.

Big Hap you do run the 350# rate right? I got the 350's but havent installed them yet. that seems like the logical choice. I'm looking for good weight transfer but I dont want the front end extending too fast . its really a challenge putting this HP to a true 10" tire.

On andy's truck I'd be interested to see how his steering shaft passes by the back header tube. Mine didnt clear so I had to "adjust" it and then back to shop to re coat it. my mistake mocking the headers up while the steering shaft was removed. D'oh!

I have been wanting to remove my torsion bars and go with front coil overs also for exhaust clearance. I can't find info on how to mount them.

Mounting them is sorta trial and error, but I am sure most should be based upon whatever manufacturer's stated travel #s are.
I am going to sort of modify what some have done here, but what is posted is a good start!
One guy I talked to suggested allowing for later adjustment, maybe factoring in different ride heights or whatever...
Im NO expert on these but I will soon discover what will work in my truck

I would say you would want to beef up both the upper and lower shock mounting points if you want them to carry the whole weight of the truck.

Id do that if I had enough confidence in my abilities but not know. I would like to know how to raise the front end with the torsion bar adjustment

Under ya bum, well back near the rear of the gearbox are the adjusters. Theres a small bolt that holds a lock tab, undo that bolt and take the lock tab off. Wind the big bolt, not sure if its in or out, i cant remember its been a while. I think in lifts and out lowers.

My adivce it to had the truck on a hard level surface and keep a tape measure handy.

Cheers. Bob.
