Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

ctmandu:

Did you do a tilt column on your truck? Wonder why they say to use a van column? I must have read this years ago, or something else said to use the van column.

I don't see why something else would not work.
Good info, thanks for posting.

Richard

Maybe is was because van columns are generally cheaper and maybe easier to find? Just a guess. I to have seen this and have thought about doing it but haven't ever found a straight shift column (I want to have floor shifter, Not 3 on the tree) without the key. Thanks for the pics and literature cat I have been debating on what would be needed to do this myself.

Richard
as for the van column it is usually because the are shorter

mine is ready to go but not in yet , i used a 63 chrysler 300 column cut my luv column(extra one) mated the 2 together used the luv floor mount cut to fit the chrysler by using a reducer for an exhaust to fit both columns together.. had to have the luv column machined down a little to fit inside the 300 column

this pic is the one i have but doesn't show the exhaust reducer it was taken before i bought it

So I take it you have ran into the same thing then.

So you used one out of a old Chrystler, I wounder if a column out of like a 58 Chrysler Imperial because there is a junkyard close by, next door to the shop really. Maybe it still has the column in it.

I have always thought about doing it but never thought it was worth what ididit and flaming river where asking. Which there prices are starting to come down a little.
