you can get these thru jcwhitney

wheel adapter
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... 42/c-10101

and fenders
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... 92/c-10101

seems kinda pricy but a slammed bagged dually LUV would look sweet IMO

I know of a 78 flat/ stake bed LUV with no engine. It is a dually, all original I guess. I need to take a pic and post it when I get by there.

The LUV never had a dual wheel rear from the factory, though you could get a LUV stakebed model from the factory, but it just had a regular pickup axle in the rear. Toyota and Nissan had dually trucks available from the factory, Toyota starting in the late 70's and Nissan in the early 80's. rondog, the most important picture you could take of the 78 dually you saw would be a picture of the rear axle. It will tell if someone just made the truck a dually themselves. I wanted to ask about the stepside LUVs, did they come from the factory with stepside beds in the 70's? Really I just need a quick history lessen on the LUV stepside truck, as I don't really know anything about them. ctmandu, what kind of rims/what size are those on the rear of the LUV stepside in the pic you posted? They are nice looking rims, would you need wheel spacers to run them up front?

i have a 72 luv dually. im sure its not factory but its looks like it. im getting ready to tub the frame cause right now a 15" wide tire will barely fit and just incase in the future i wanna go bigger i can without chopping up the bed and mess up the paint. When i bought it it had a dually axle on it.

Does the dually axle in your truck have a bud wheel setup like full-size 1 ton trucks? There should be 4 rims in total, two rims mounted on each side of the rear end. In a bud wheel system the rims are mounted where the lug bolt holes line up when you face the rims together inside out from each other, kinda like this if you can imagine the symbol ">" and "<" being a rim. Looks like this, ><--[ ]-->< and it is considered the true dually setup. Now a fake setup would be the dually adapters JCWhitney sells, installed on a truck they would look like this, >>--[ ]--<< In that case you are just extending out a hub on your factory 1/2 ton pickup rear end to install a regular 1/2 ton pickup wheel in front of another 1/2 ton pickup wheel. Going the JCWhitney route would still allow you to have a dual wheel rear, higher your payload capacity, but still isn't as strong as the popular bud wheel setup. Hope it's not overly confusing.

That truck looks like it drove through Pep Boys with a magnet on it.

Not many good pictures of the dually setup, but it might give you some ideas.

I finally took the camera and went by there today. It looks like I forgot to do so for too long. It's not there any more. Sorry guys.
