I posted this in another section also, but I'm sticking it up here so that folks won't have problems with particular Webers: 32/34 DFT and 28/32 ADHA. Not all Webers are created equal.

RE: Weber 32/34 DFT and 28/32 ADHA

Seems there's a problem getting the linkage I got from Pierce to fit this setup on a 75 LUV. I think they sent me the stuff to adapt a 32/36 DGV and the bellcrank doesn't want to work.

The carbs, both of them, have the throttle pull in the wrong direction for a '75. Stock has the cable pulling from driver's fender side with the throttle linkage pulled back to that side by the cable. Both these carbs are set up so that cable should pull in the opposite direction, as having cable pulling from passenger side. Also the orientation of the Pierce bellcrank holes, especially the mounting hole with flats on it, require that the throttle cable pull straight up or straight down because of a difference in the throttle shaft. That is, the flats on the throttle shaft and the flats on the mounting hole don't want to jive.

Also the throttle cable mounting bracket from Pierce has the wrong orientation, as if it is also designed to hold a cable pulling from opposite side of carbretor.

I'll call Pierce again today, but I wanted to post this as a warning not to jump on just any old Weber you find! I can fabricate what I need, but the adapter plate and linkage have already cost me $75 from Pierce so far and I don't know if they'll take them back or what.

Is the 75 engine you have in there a series 4 engine with the valve cover gaskets kinda pointy with vertical lines running front to back or the series 5 engine with the black valve cover gaskets?

That may make a difference too.

The engine is a G180-E, 1975.

Just called Pierce manifolds this a.m. and asked about getting the right parts. There was a misunderstanding as to which carb I had because I said Chevy LUV, so they had thought I had a 32/36 DGV. Well I don't, and they didn't have a linkage kit, manifold adapter or correct air cleaner for the 32/34 DFT that I have. I also checked on a rebuild kit for that other carb, the 28/32 ADHA, and it was $56 !!! Most of the other kits are closer to $20. Figures.

The good part is that there was no hassles at all on returning parts, even though it's been over 30 days since I received them. They were very polite and teck support did their best to help. So, I will definitely be doing business with them in the future just because of that!

It looks like I can fabricate my own linkage for the 32/34 DFT carb, and the air cleaner from another series looks like it can be modified to fit. I'll try to post pictures once it's all together, with part numbers etc.

Update:

Outsmarted myself! Sent the parts back to Pierce Manifolds, adapter and linkage. Thought I'd just use my Trans-Dapt adapter for whatever carb I put on it. The Trans-Dapt adapter #692107 is made to fit the DGEV, DGAV, DFAV, DFEV, and the 28/32 ADHA, but guess what it doesn't fit? Right, the 32/34 DFT that I just rebuilt! Sooo....off to the boneyards today to see what I can find.

The Trans-Dapt adapter also fits Holley 5200 or 5210 but that's probably way too much carb for my little stock 1.8 I think? I don't really need more power so much as smooth running and decent mileage. Any suggestions or ideas?
