hay i know i've ben gone a wile but my time spent away gave me a wicked idea for a complealy insanely unnoticeable custom job for the 78 long bed

i was thinking
if i cut the window frames off the doors, split then and weld them to the cab and re wether strip them i would have convertible style doors right

well it not that insane but a neat idea

oh i was wondering if anyone ever dropped a 454 out of a 71 ss elcamino in a luv before cause i got one i'm the shop in huchison and i'm wanting to see wat that baby can do in a light body

By splitting the window frame, i assume you're saying that you'll separate the the track channel. If so, will you scrap the outside edge to allow the glass to stay up when the door is opened and closed? It could look odd because the original glass will have a noticable gap all around. And the headache of trying to seal the glass to weather stripping.
The original design of the window calls for perimeter reinforcement. The frame is also a guide to keep the window squared up as it moves up and down. It may not be worth trying to reinforce the window track inside the door to hold the glass solidly.
Plus the fact that LUVs aren't know for being the most burglar-proof trucks, it will be that much easier to snake a coat hanger between the glass and weather strip.

As for the big block, lots of trucks have been modded to fit. The firewall will need to be worked heavily to make room and also the trans tunnel. The gas and brake pedal assy's will need to be shifted off the left because of the firewall/trans tunnel mods.
Get ahold of RATINLUV, you can see what he's done to his LUV.

No offense but I dont understand the purpose of doing that if you arent going to make it a convertable, all you are going to do is make your truck noisier and wetter on the inside of the cab. I'm all for the big block though!!

Fitting a big block in the truck would catch the eye of a thief. Even just to joy ride a hot rod truck. Having reworked windows that dont provide much security would almost be an invitation.
As for me, i've let it be known to too many people that i got a V-8 under the hood and im very leary of having my truck taken.
