hey guys i was thinking of putting a dana 44 in the rear of my 1974 luv but i dont know if it will be big enough? if you could help me out guys that would be great

well it all depends on what your running. Just bear in mind its a 28spline axle whith a 8.5" ring gear and 10bolts for the ring gear to the carrier and it usues C-clips for holding the axles (unexceptable for a high performnce v-8 in my eyes). Its identical in most working dimensions to a GM 10 from a truck.

Dana 44's can hold up to medium-high performance. full race needs a 9er. that white luv down in houston does low 9's on a dana 44 out of a mail jeep.

btw the center chunk of the IRS in a most vettes is a dana 44. NHRA will certify a vette IRS down to 9.00 when the mandated upgrades are made. they can be built to perform

GOT THE DANA 44 FROM JOSE LUV IN MINE NOW BEEN MID 9'S NO PROBLEM BUT IT IN THE CHASSIS SHOP FOR CAGE AND LADDER BARS UPDATES :D MOSER AXLES AND SPOOL DANA 44 HAVE NO C-CLIPS 6 BOLTS HOLD IT TO HOUSING HOPE THIS HELPS
