if you have a V8, just hope you don't hook up.

I broke the rear in mine back in 94 on new years day. I did a smokey burnout and hit second gear. It hooked up, broke the rear, tranny (5 speed), and U-joint. That was with the buick V6 in it.

If you have the 4 banger.....I don't see it giving you a problem.

the v8 if that is what you have should work with that rearend thats what i plan on doing with mine any way. if i do blow the rearend up than ill just go get another one from a recking yard or a s10 rearend can hold a little more horses

Yeah, if V8, and the rear end is in good shape (low miles), it should be able to take about 260 hp. A wore out rear end might have trouble with anything more then stock hp....

There is numerous guys running mild V8's out there with stock rears.

Keep in mind guys that it's torque, not horsepower, that breaks things. With a taller set of gears, you should be fairly safe with a V8 considering that torque is multiplied by gearing, horsepower is not. Just a note to think about

i put a 355 in mine and ran 11.24 in the 1/4 mile @ 119mph. with 10''slicks. i took the pumpin out and welded the spider gears together making a locker or spool. ran it a least 1 1/2 seasons at the drags. now went to a 9'' narowd ford cuz i dropped in a 468.....
