 Post subject: Pictures/Info needed
PostPosted: Fri Jul 30, 2004 7:49 pm
Im hoping to get an 80 4X4 Luv that has been sitting around the corner from my house for ever. My plans are to maybe raise this truck about 4 inches and drop a healthy 350 V-8 into it.

But my questions are:

1.) How hard will this swap be?
2.) Can I use the stock T-case?
3.) Can someone send me a few pic's of a working swap?

1. hear it's a pretty involving swap, but there's plenty of literature about it here on this site so you should have all the info you need.

2. The stock t-case is mated to the stock tranny which isn't gonna bolt up to anything bigger than a 2.3 liter isuzu engine, so new tranny and t-case are needed. As well as drivelines.

3. Got no pics, since my truck has the original drivetrain. All I just said I picked up from browsing the forums the last couple months. But I'm sure if you check out the photo galleries you can find some pictures of 4X4 swaps.

Also, if you want to raise it, your options are about 2 of suspension lift with a rear shackle kit and adjusting your torsion bars. 2-3 inches from a body lift kit readily available at http://www.JCWhitney.com. Anything more and you're gonna have to do a solid axle swap from, I hear the easiest is an early 80's solid axle toyota pickup.

Narcisist pretty much covered that topic. There was a guy here about 2 years ago with a 350/350, divorced t-case setup with pics to show it (body off build). I cant remember his name nor do i know if he ever completed the project.
