Do 24 spline clutch discs from '79 Luv come any larger size than 8"? I'm a first time Luv owner and had just purchased a '79 luv with bad engine. I found a G200 engine that will go in it, but would like to keep the transmission that's already in the truck which has 24 splines. However, I would like to get a larger clutch disc for it to utilize the full surface of the flywheel from the G200 engine. What choice do I have as far as finding a larger clutch disc with 24 splines? Please help!

When I worked at a Europian repair shop I remember dealing with a place in CA that made custom clutch disc and other related parts. Very expensive and it took forever to get the stuff. If youve got money and time try a search for Custom Clutch Inc. Send them your old disc and they will make the center match and the outter demension bigger like you want.

I don't know if you'd run into issues with fitting it, but a clutch from any gas isuzu PUP or Trooper up to 86 will be a 8 1/2 inch with 24 splines. My 86 Trooper with a 2.3L gas motor has pretty much exactly the same cable setup as a 79 LUV for the clutch, so I would be surprised if you had any problems at all fitting it. At most you might have to mix a LUV throwout bearing in there, but I believe they even use the same part number. There have been some people here who have swapped transmissions between 86ish troopers and LUVs so I think with the right combo of flywheel, disc, pressure plate, and bearing it should all fit. I think I would start with a full kit for a newer Isuzu (83-86) and see how it fits.

I do quite a bit of research looking stuff up at http://www.rockauto.com because they usually list a lot of details about each part besides just a part number. I don't rely on everything they say to be right on, but they are usually fairly accurate from what I've seen. Look at Isuzu stuff up to about 86, after that stick to 2.3L powered stuff.

I looked up a 2.6L from 88 and they list a 9 1/2" disc for it. I know you can get Centerforce upgrades for those, but I don't know if you can get the flywheel to bolt up to a G200 that will fit that large of a clutch. Parts like that are compatible between a 2.3L and a 2.6L, but I don't know about a G200 1.9L motor. My gut feeling is that you could bolt it up, but you'd run into problems with stuff like getting a starter to fit. Also, the 2.6L powered Isuzus use a hydraulic clutch so more parts might be different.
