A good friend of mine who has his own auto repair shop has a T-5 out of a Astro van in his 67 Old's with a 455 and it's living quite well but he dose not drag race it either.
Keep in mind that some people can tear up a anvil with a feather and others can run stuff that is not supposed to work so it pays to think about what your intended purpose is and build accordingly and try to over build if feasible.
the cases are all basicly the same, so I imagine he has the V8 guts inside, since it would have to be taken apart to remove the stupid Astro van shifter housing to fit his Olds.
But I totally agree, that you should try to build bigger and better than your actual goal, that way if you turn it down a notch or 2 the assembly will be reliable for a long time.
